at this point i have to take what you say as just empty platitudes. time and time again you have shown your inability to step in and make changes to MO even after overwhelming feedback on the forums. Maybe you have been very busy shuffling numbers around to make sure the lights stay on but certainly there has been more than enough time over the last 10 years to step back and evaluate the game's subsystems.

it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out the game's economy was completely fucked from day one. when the first keep deed was purchased at a time where 8000 gold hadn't even had a chance to drop in game yet (even if you were farming the entireity of myrland as fast as spawns happened and sold all the drops you likely wouldnt have 8000 gold at that point). your lack of action then and since sends a loud signal that noone's watching the store.

things like butchery were added without considering the side effects that people would be out 'in the field' a lot less (*not* a trivial change in playstyle!). breeding is still broken as all get out (max speed should not have max hp, or at least not without absolute minimum stamina) not to mention level 125 takes far too long and is far too overpowering. one could go on ad nauseum over all the unbalanced and broken systems in the game that are still there, untouched as if you're simply incapable of evaluating them and coming up with reasonable 'tweeks' or outright overhauls where needed.

i guess what i'm saying is, give us some confidence you can make decisions. Give us a reason to believe it wont just be broken subsystem after broken subsystem that languish unchanged because you fear breaking more things should you adjust them.

I agree 100%. I think the best thing they can do right now before starting on MO2, is do all these changes that the community has been asking for years. Make MO fun to play again while we wait for the years of development on MO2. Remove breeding. Remove combat pets. Take the popular suggestions.

Start with the easiest stuff to fix first. The fixes that can just take some swapping numbers around. Then do the harder. If you want us to have faith in you @Henrik Nystrom. I kinda feel like you could do that for us. We are the ones who come here day after day hoping...

I feel MO at this point needs to be used to see how the community reacts to these changes you were always against doing because you said you could never please everybody...

Its too far gone now, wouldnt work. ON top of removing those you need to remove necro pets, TC, butchery and make sieges more workable on top of reducing grind for mats. Finally the most important of all they need to wipe the game to remove all the screwed up economy caused by silly mechanics, exploits etc. Mate it will never happen, id rather wait for MO2, at this stage MO2 is more realistic than a fixed MO

I 100% agree with everything but removing breeding however, it needs to be reworked and mounted mele and archery needs to be removed or reworked in every way.

I'm not suggesting that henrik 'take the popular suggestions' as you say, but rather that he be able to look objectively at what it is that was created, and have the humility to realize that even tho whats in game might completely match his 'vision', it may simply not work out as well in practice as it did in theory.

When theres a ton of pushback on the forums, its probably a sign that whatever was done should be reviewed to ensure it meshes well with the game. dont just take everyone's bellyacheing on the forums as a need for change, but rather have the wisdom to know when they're real vs crocodile tears.

I’m hyped ... I just hope they release it within a reasonable amount of time and that they don’t destroy the ebb and flow of the balance of the game with unneeded and poorly implemented mechanics.

I agree its too far gone. Still, my point is more so that they can use MO as somewhat of a test for MO2. Do some changes and see how whats left of the community reacts.

If they transfer anything I know for sure I won't return.
Its a brand new game and nothing will be transfered. That wont change much tho since the same people that work Hard in MO will work Hard in MO2 and be rich in ni time.

Where was this clarified?

Thats my biggest issue right now, everything is in the dark. Unless there was a new announcment i missed, Henrik said specifically that wealth would transfer to a new form. Whatever the fuck that means.

Yeah the day I leave MO it will turn into a wow clone.
You know I wrote the org design for MO right? I wrote every single game feature and then handed over the coding part for our coders.
So what you both love and hate comes from my very old game design.
Over the years I had to step away more and more and let go of the hand holding of the development due to extreme stress and work load, this is where things started to get mixed, which I take on me, this is my fault for sure. Things got into the game that I didnt have time to follow up as I should have.
This second time around things will be different, and I will be part of every section that comes into the game.
we will start with the core and the best working parts from org MO and we will slowly expand from there carefully making sure its the right decisions.

There is no way we will throw away this second chance to make MO as intended, both in terms of lack of previous experience and with new tech that allows us to do more what we wanted in the first place. There will be no ninja content added from different developers that haven't been 200% approved and checked. I know we only get one chance to make MO2 well, and I will do everything in my power to make sure its done correctly this time. Every developer is critical that they are in the right position, not just random people, so we are taking our time to build our entire team. I use to play MO a lot since launch and I loved playing it, I felt pure magic since day one, I will never forget the days we lumbered those trees next to fabernum and teamed up, having good stories and avoided the waves of murders that came every now and then. MO is very close to my heart, and so is it for both Sebastian and Mats that helped me build the game I had in mind many years ago. We will do it again and we will use the core from MO and improve on it into the new tech. Theres been a few companies over the years that wanted to take over MO, but not to improve on its current features, but to change its entire model from sandbox to a more themepark including the business model, this will however offer a different wow clone pretty much, which MO never is meant to be. I hope we can be clear on what MO is going to be which we tried to show since day one when we revealed MO.

Words is just words however, action speaks louder so give MO2 a try when its available for you to decide for yourself.
Can you give us a timeframe for when you will be able to talk about your specific ideas as to what will and will not transfer?

I understand if you cant currently but can you atleast tell us when you'll be able to give us real info, if at all?

Yes. All information is scattered in comments here and there all over the forum and Discord. Ive been trying to tack everything about MO2.
It was something SEB wrote that gave me the impression that assets wont transfer, but I cant Remember exactly what he said, and now that you mention it I do Remember Henrik saying something that indicated that some assets Would transfer.

Ill do some digging when I get home. Im a really good digger.

That's what this screenshot from Discord seems to say, about new forms and never-a-wipe:

Of course, Mr. Nyström is free to change his mind--though he has also both recently and in times long past gotten criticism for being apparently reluctant to do so.

... and it must be here on the forum, or somewhere else other than Discord, because I'm back to February there and while Seb said stuff in that interval, none of it was about assets transferring-or-not.

Henrik, meanwhile, also said (~Feb 21):

This "transfer of assets and chars" of cause does not fit into their plan to reduce the slot number to one per account. This would mean to create one new MO2-char and got the combination of all skills and all banks and magic spellbooks and assets into this new character.

We had this discussion before and I'm very interested to see how StarVault will manage this "transfer". Personally I would prefer and handle MO2 as new game (which would mean: no wipe, because new game).

IF it is the same game with an engine update then i could understand that assets are transfered.

It would suck to have to skill up all chars and loose all your mats, spellbooks etc IF Its just a graphics update and you would have to skill up and farm just to get back to where you were.

if its just an engine update, then i dont think it qualifies as a sequel, certainly not worthy of being called MO2.

its just silly to pull any assets over from MO, the economy here has been poisoned from the very start. maybe allow for some cosmetic items to carry over but no assets of value.

If they do this, the game will fail just as it has done in MO. Haves and have nots. Clean slate is the only way to get new players.
