Some really nice things here. I am so happy to see more options for weapon/armor crafters, it seems this patch has finally solved the issue of "login, craft armor/weapon, logout" and I can't say thanks enough.

I love everyone having the ability to use horses for transportation... But I'm immediately noticing problems with this.

First off, Taming is still a primary. This kinda sucks, if you are going to let people use weak horses for transportation you should just let them be able to tame new ones since they will die like flies compared to overpowered breeding mounts. Considering how weak most tamed horses are I don't see that much issue with making Taming a secondary, it would be really good addition to this patch honestly.

I would love to say how this could encourage foot fighting by letting people roam more easily...... but I'm afraid it will only make it more obvious the problems of specialized mounted fighters and the current mounted meta.

You'll be riding your pony on a foot fighter looking for action, a mounted will find you, nuke your horse for 120, kill it with another swing before you can remount. with basically zero counterplay available. after that they will either kill you or maybe you can escape depending on the area. Not really any other outcome.

It's sad mounted combat has turned into this dismount nuke-weapon meta. Coupled with breeding system creating horses with insane amounts of HP/stamina/speed.... its just way too zerg-friendly....its just bad.

I just wish it could be more like the old mounted system of many years ago before breeding.... Let me list some of the advantages of this sytem.

1. All fighters could use mounted combat, using normal foot weapons like swords and weak mounts that could be easily replaced.

2. you could use the swing arcs on BOTH sides of the horse which was most of the skill(seriously, how is the mounted leftswing still not fixed)

3. Horses were not so valuable. This is actually one of the most overlooked problems in the current breeding system, when horses become very valuable people are not willing to fight to the death of their mount, this comes up more in the point after this.

3. Fights had 2 phases in a way, when groups would engage each other they would be riding horses and would begin with group mounted combat, as the fight progressed horses would start to get killed, at which point the fight entered the second phase of foot-fighting. It was not even uncommon for a fighter who kept their horse alive to dismount it on the edge of a fight so they could jump into the fray on foot.

4. After fights like I mentioned above, the winning side would travel together to the nearest horse spawn and tame new horses for their fighters who had lost their mounts, nobody is crying over expensive horses that take absurd amounts of time to level up logging in every few hours to train at a stable....

I might be crazy but the fighting meta was just so much better during those days. I wish it could be more similar to that.

Stirring the pot is an understatement. I like this. A lot of those skills aren't specialisations. They are just general/broad abilities. For example: everyone should be able to ride for the most part. But not everyone will ride well, unless they spend the points to specialise.

Specialisation is what should determine the differences between characters, not basic choices. I think this is a step in the right direction.

My only concern, is what does this mean for crafting? Are we just going to see everyone have their own crafter? What's going to encourage socialising and cooperation?

Agree.

I think what this will do is allow people to craft some of the basics by themselves but if you want higher end items (steel, cron, etc.) you still need specialization and in theory, other people.

It's now all a bunch of brainwashed Loyalists who don't like constructive criticism of their favourite pile of trash hahaha
I'd argue it's 1 part loyalists and 1 part unmotivated/disenfranchised players like you who just can't let go and move on and spend their energy hanging around with nothing better to do. Two sides of the same coin.

PS: Thanks for your public service announcement, saved my live.

I just know way too many people who are not following this game any longer, and to whom it will not be of interest to tell the details of this patch.

Even though of course I will report back on it.

Meh, but true.

Great joob SV, improving our life quality at the game.

Now we wait for a TC rework/remove. :D

Great patch, wished it had come a few years earlier. But as @Najwalaylah said, better late than never.

I think it’s great that SV still works on this game for those of us who still care and love it; most mega corporate development companies and publishers would have pulled the plug long ago. It takes a CEO who is the game’s number one fan to keep the dream and vision alive and on the forefront.

I for one will be enjoying this patch, it is going to open up a lot of doors not just for my main character Tibers but for my other three alts as well. So, thank you SV and I will be eagerly looking forward to what you have in store for us in the next patch.

Hey patch is actually pretty good. Glad to see some work to thew skill trees, is very needed. But as usual I have some feedback that I think could help.

Remove the footspeed and breathing tech skills. Theres no reason to have f2p move slower. It is the main factor that makes f2p unviable for any actual play, any p2p players can easily just chase you down. F2p is still weaker and has worse stam, weaker spells that use more mana, ect. so it wouldnt be op. But we need a better f2p it would mean more players who dont want to sub play. Which means more players online, which motivates others to sub. So more free players still = more $.

The murdercount system needs some work. I've played several other open pvp games and all have better flagging murder systems than mortal. I've seen time and time again nubs in the help chat baffled that a guy just walked in killed them and is walking to the bank blue with their stuff as they res and get back. And the murdercount system just trolls the players who end up getting them. They should like tick while you are offline (and take liek 16/24h to compensate) and you should legit go red at like 1 or 2. This way if people want to just kill a nub cuz they are 0 mc and can they will still go red. So no just random killing a nub and being blue. Red isnt even that bad so it doesnt matter.

This one is more of a maybe a good idea not sure. Make mounted combat the secondary and charge the primary. If everyone can ride roaming without mounted combat will be hard. You can still use locked 0 MA to do slightly below half (if you dont have archery max) bow damage so you can still shoot mounts. So being able to also swing from your mount no primaries would make sense. Charge still does much more damage so it wouldnt be op. But currently you can shoot a bow locked 0 ma with very few primaries used (like 25/30 riding and archery, forgot specific numbers). But if you swing a melee weapon you will do virtually nothing.

Lastly, and kidna important, the crafting system should use a rework in how it calculates weapon stats. I have a few possible ideas that could come from it. You shouldnt need 100 in all lores to make a low quality weapon. Like a flake spear. You should be able to make a max flake spear as f2p. Also if the was a max flake spear, the game could know what a flake spear is instead of its a spear with some numbers. This could be a way to switch the system so that they can be buffed/nerfed and not haev prepatch garbage. Cuz we really need an overhaul of the system so we can get proper item balancing without prepatch and junk.

Lastly as ive said before. Mounted needs to be more liek royales. Mounted isnt op there at all. Mounts are pretty fair. If they attack their mount might die. Not the garbage fly around on your armored tank mount, hit 100's, then fly off to heal it IF it even gets low hp (which it might not cuz the lowly foot player is busy dying to parry damage not swinging).

My 2 cents on what the game really needs besides the new island and tc patch which I dont need to mention. But although I like this patch I dont see players returning for the changes until they are bigger, like some of the above ideas. No point in returning for easier roaming with secondary riding when you are still max bred mount mounted build food like before.

Yes we are VERY sorry for the inconvenience with some skills getting affected by the changes.
Just petition and we will work our butts off to fix it for you! <3

Managed to squeeze a paltry extra 20 or so primary points on my main toon, I think those who will benefit the most from this patch are dedicated crafters, resource gatherers and butchers.

This patch isn’t just stirring the pot. It is unshackling the chains that have held down non-combat characters for so long. My alts will probably gain an extra 400-500 primary points, maybe even more.

I remember the same problems with a patch long time ago which also swapped primary and secondary skills.
Would have been easier just to swap the primary points each for Athletics and Riding instead of increasing them to 100 for Sprinting and Controlled Riding and take the missing points from a random primary skill.
