Since I am daily researching new advancements in game design workflow and solutions, I realised I could also share it with Star Vault for MO2. Maybe you guys also find some interesting stuff. Here s an interesting talk explaining the rationale behind using AI in game development. It's basically to cut cost dramatically.

Hosting stuff in the cloud in general is way cheaper. You must pay for actual server load.
If there are no players on the server, Star Vault doesn't pay anything.

This is what SpatialOS and Hadean are doing.

You probably got your idea from Star Citizen. They are developing their own solution, because they have a shit ton of money
 
I was about to suggest the whole Star Citizen thing too for resources and security and stuff
